Friends, family and colleagues of late amapiano hitmaker and businessman Oupa John Sefoka, aka DJ Sumbody, gathered at a memorial service to pay tribute to him this morning.
Sadness could be felt though the small screens as numerous speakers remembered him and paid tribute to him. His close friend and industry colleague Cassper Nyovest, fought back tears as he paid tribute to him.
Cassper Nyovest recalled the first time he met DJ Sumbody he said: “Me and DJ Sumbody met a long time ago. I don’t know who he took my number from. However, when he was on the radio he would call me every week to give me an interview without telling me anything before. I would answer thinking it was just a call, and he would be like “you are live on air, you see we are supporting you” and that is how our relationship started. How we became close friends with him is a funny story”. The rapper said, while he was fighting back his tears.
DJ Sumbody’s memorial service was held at Lewende Woord Church in Centurion on Wednesday morning.
The highly celebrated club DJ died in a hail of bullets on Sunday morning, just hours before his annual all white picnic at Ayepyep Lifestyle Lounge in Pretoria.
