During his time in Cape Town, Western Cape Province Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club star, Terrence Mashego became close friends with some of his teammates during his two-year stint at Cape Town City Football Club having moved to the club from TS Galaxy Football Club ahead of the 2021/2022 season.

 

 

 

 

The 26-year-old’s move to Sundowns came as a shock to many as the Brazilians already had one of the best left fullbacks in the country by the names of Lyle Lakay and Aubrey Modiba while the likes of Devine Lunga and Sifiso Ngobeni are also in their books looking for an opportunity to play.

Despite his move to his hometown team Mashego has not forgotten his friends in Cape Town as one of his closest friends, Keanu Gregory Cupido was getting married to his high school sweetheart, Monicque Du Pont after the couple have been together for well over ten years.

The South African international was among the handful of South African football stars like Mpho Makola, Tariq Fielies, and Mduduzi Mdantshane who attend the private ceremony held in Cape Town as they showed the 24-year-old the support and love he would expect from his colleagues and friends.

The couple who are blessed with a child looked happy and glad to see the likes of Mashego in attendance, as it showed that Cupido was not just their teammate but also a brother they gained from the game.

This just shows us that being in the sport actually does help in creating brotherhoods that will last until the end of time, as Mashego showed that by being there for his friend’s big day which is something we have to admire and give him applaud for.

A lot of football players in the country can learn from this as it shows that being kind to your colleague can create a bond that will last forever.
