Uthando Nes’thembu is a show that follows Musa Mseleku as he tries to navigate his polygamous lifestyle. We often get to see him battle his wives over trying to marry a fifth wife and it has caused tension to at least two of his homesteads. Mayeni and MaNgwabe have been adamantly against this.

Earlier this season we got to meet MaNgwabe’s mother who was a firecracker in her own right. She advised her daughter, that if she felt like leaving her marriage, she would never stop her. This week, she took to confronting her son-in-law herself.

 

 

 

She asked him to clarify why he needed another wife and it took a rather humorous turn when he was so flustered he couldn’t explain. He resorted to stating it was Mseleku business but it was obvious he had no real reason why this has to be, just a feeble excuse about wanting 20 children.

People had differing opinions about this and took to Twitter to share their thoughts about this.

One user wrote, “MaNgwabe called her mum on Musa. He’s not budging about growing the family. She’s not budging about whatever her stance is. Now what? #Uthandonesthembu”

While another user wrote, “Someone please make me understand,why is MaNgwabe’s mother getting into Mseleku’s matters #Uthandonesthembu”

A final user wrote, “MaNgwabe’s mom handled her well!! Mbali is selfish and Musa did justice by reminding her that she was not wanted by another wife to begin with!!! #Uthandonesthembu”



I think this was a rather strange occurence but should be normalized. Women should be able to have their mother’s meditate on their behalf for their own protection. Though I doubt that this meeting had any real impact.
