Brenda Mhlongo In Hot Water After Strangling A Producer On Set
Brenda Mhlongo who stars as KaMandonsela on Imbewu: The Seed is going through a lot both on and off set. The actress recently had a meltdown which might cost her her job as she went physical with some of the crew members.
According to reports reaching us at SurgeZirc SA, the team was busy shooting when Brenda suddenly had a breakdown. One minute she was crying the next she jumped at one of the female producers and strangled her. The producers loudly screamed for help as the other crew members tried to pull Brenda away.

A few minutes after that she got back to her senses and looked a lot calmer. She was then questioned on why she acted in that manner. She apologised and said she “got too much into her character and the dlozi took over”.
If you do watch Imbewu: The Seed you’d know that her character (KaMandosela) is a pastor’s wife who recently turned into a sangoma. KaMandosela has faced several hardships including rejection as she has been married to a pastor and has been a christian almost all her life.
Back to what happened behind the scenes. A source who was there when all this drama took place spoke to Sunday World and said her breakdown might be a results of terrible working conditions and a toxic environment.
“The new management brought with them very rude and unprofessional crew members who are treating actors and other people like crap. Many people have been on depression pills since the new management took over. The work environment is no longer enjoyable, and people are scared to talk because they do not want to be fired as the new management does not like to be challenged.”
Recall that last year, the popular soapie fired several actors including the following artists: Fundiswa Zwane, Phindile Gwala, Nkanyiso Mchunu, and Buhle Samuels.
So it might be possible that she had to blame her character when it was actually the environment.
