After a video of her appearing drunk while performing at Macufe went viral, Zahara became popular. She has since responded to the sceptics, but some remain convinced. A Twitter user uploaded a video of herself performing while allegedly intoxicated. However, Zahara cautioned against posting images that have been altered to suit people’s narratives. She responded by stating, “Don’t edit things to demean me. God is constantly good. Stop this absurdity!” Nota provided his opinion on the situation and compared Zahara to his wife Berita.

“The best thing you can teach your wife if you work in the media and entertainment industry is how to make her own money without selling her body… My wife’s and Zahara’s careers began around the same time, but my wife now has the majority of her master’s degrees and knows how to market herself,” he tweeted. If Zahara had a good husband, he continued, she would not be performing and allegedly drinking alcohol. He stated that she is experiencing these occurrences because she is not the Mihlali or Zodwa Wabantu type.

“If Zahara had found a good husband who is half the man that I am, she wouldn’t be performing to pay for SARS and drinking to drown her sorrows before going on stage. Substance abuse results in death, incarceration, or institutionalization. Unfortunately, she does not resemble Zodwa Wabantu or Mihlali,” he stated. Nota trolled Zahara by suggesting she owes DJ Sbu an apology for all the alleged lies she told him and TK Nciza about Loliwe royalties. “Zahara will not recover until she apologizes to TK Nciza and DJ Sbu for the many lies she has told about them… Until then, she will continue to struggle with substance abuse. She used to claim she didn’t want to become Brenda Fassie, but now she’s doing everything in her power to make that happen!”
