MUSA MSELEKU ON HOW HE HANDLES FINANCES WITH HIS FOUR WIVES
Musa Mseleku is married to four women, MaCele, MaYeni, MaNgwabe and MaKhumalo who appeared on the second season of Real Housewives of Durban. The polygamist appeared on Old Mutual’s On the Money to speak about all things family and money.
When asked how much he spends on groceries for his big family, Mseleku revealed that they spend a whopping R30 000 per month.
“Look at it like this, the basics like oil and things like that come up to around R4 500. Then you add cleaning materials then you get up to R 6 000,” he explained.
“I may be underestimating, per household. Then you multiply for each household, which gets you to the R30 000 range.”
ARE MSELEKU’S WIVES FINANCIALLY INDEPENDENT?
Mseleku explained that two of his wives are employed and the other two are self-employed. He added that he was not involved in how much they earn and he does what he can as the head of the household.
“If they don’t save the money they make, they will have a crisis,” he said.
“Let me put it like this, if you have a child who has an opportunity to make money while you’re still alive, that child must save their money.”

TAKING A FIFTH WIFE
Mseleku wanted to take on a fifth wife at the end of season five of his reality show, Uthando Nes’thembu, but he failed to make it a reality.
“I’m asking my wives to allow me to take a fifth wife, it’s no longer a question to me. I’m just waiting for them to say yes or no. And, I’m doing it the modern way. If it was before [during the olden days], I’d be telling them that I’m taking another wife,” he said as per The Citizen.
“The way it’s supposed to be done, is for me to engage with the first wife and tell her I intend to take a fifth wife and she would communicate with the other wives, but in the modern times – it does not work that way because all the wives have to be treated equally.”
