South African Music Artist, AKA, Cry Out Over Constant Load Shedding

The load shedding in the country is no longer a joke because even celebrities and music artists are now crying out. This implies that they too are being affected. This afternoon, South Africa award-winning music artist AKA cried out that the impending stage 6 load shedding will not be funny. The renowned artist took to his Twitter account to bemoan the situation, saying that, “Stage six load shedding is when they walk into your crib and blow out your candles”. Indeed, many people have been saying that the situation is no longer bearable, saying that it is becoming worse day after day. They noted that there is no improvement whatsoever, saying that all that the government promised to improve on Eskom power stations has not been fulfilled for a minute. As AKA was complaining about the bad situation of Eskom, some people, however, are heaping blames on him, saying that he was among the people who campaigned vigorously for president Cyril Ramaphosa back then.

An aggrieved South African youth and social media user noted that AKA and other people joined to campaign for Ramaphosa; hence he should not complain. He told AKA blatantly, “You guys campaigned for Ramaphosa, and now it is you all yapping on the internet like we ain’t remember”. Back then, president Cyril Ramaphosa was hugely popular among artists and journalists, and they really did promote him as the new dawn. The recent campaign slogan is no longer the new dawn, but renewal. A social media user also joined to lament the worsening load shedding. He wrote, “We are now on stage 6 and Eskom CEO Andre De Ruyter still receives his fat salary for switching the lights off… Furthermore, we’ve seen a “fall on your sword” ideology with Eskom and the lack of enforcement of that ideology today should have you wondering if De Ruyter And Gordhan are being protected and why. Your answers lie in all these points, not us”.
