SAPS knew where the King of Heists lived before he died but did nothing about it. Here’s why|Point of view
The Internet talked about the death of Prince Mahlangu, who was known as the “King of Heists and Hijackings” in Soshanguve. He was also known for wearing clothes worth more than R100,000 each. Many people were happy about his death, but it also made people wonder why he wasn’t arrested even though the police knew where he lived.
One person went on social media and asked, “Everyone knows that the king of robberies and car thefts lived in Soshanguve. Why hasn’t law enforcement done anything about this until now?” Many people have been asking this question. There isn’t a clear answer to this, but people have said what they think, and many of them think that the police didn’t have enough proof against him and that some of the police also benefited from him.
People have said, “It can be hard for police to catch a known criminal because some of them are smart and make sure there’s no evidence linking them. It’s all about evidence.”
“Before you can arrest someone, you need proof. South Africa is a Constitutional democracy. It doesn’t matter if you know someone steals things if you haven’t seen them do it or if you have seen them do it but are too afraid to testify against them in court.”
It is common knowledge that someone can only be convicted if there is solid evidence against them. People knew who Prince was, but he was never arrested because of how he made money. He may also have been free because he worked for the South African Police Service (SAPS) and gave them money, which they are known to do. Gangsterism is good because the same gangsters always kill each other.
