Few months ago Hleziphi found out that her best friend Nonka’s boyfriend, Kwanda , was using Nonka’s business as a front for his drug trade. After failing to alert Nonka, Hleziphi called the cops on the business, for them to make a bust.

It’s only then that Nonka realises her involvement with the drug operation, but it’s a little too late. One day at work, Nonka is surprised to see the police barge in, looking for drugs. And when they find them, she’s in utter shock. She had no clue this was happening, and she’s immediately overwhelmed with denial.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

When she phones her boyfriend uKwanda, he kind of blows her off and tells her she should figure it out. In that moment, Nonka feels extreme betrayal: She’s put in the uncomfortable position of fending for herself by someone she loves.

CHARGED WITH GUILTY
Nonka and her lawyer meet to discuss her options, and she could get a suspended sentence if she pleads guilty. Circumstantial evidence suggests that Nonka enabled her man’s criminal activities, so although the suspended sentence means she could continue a somewhat normal life out of prison.

She would still have a criminal record behind her name. This is devastating to someone who’s always tried to live as an upright Christian – her life is ruined, and there’s very little she can do about it.

BACK TO DEFAULT
When Nonka’s business was thriving, she moved her family into a mansion in the suburbs. But all that comes crashing down when Nonka drops the bomb about what’s happened.

She basically tells her family they have to move back to the house in the township. Although they worry about what the neighbours will think of them, they are understanding and supportive of Nonka.

Now Nonka must find her balance again. When she attends church, Pastor Gwala gives Nonka some hope with a powerful sermon.

The sermon reminds her of the importance of life and what it takes to get back to a place of stability.Her journey might be filled with hurdles, but Nonka is not about to lose herself –and we’ll just have to wait and see how her beloved boyfriend deals with that.
