Shauwn MaMkhize has done it again, but this time for women’s football. Royal AM’s flamboyant bosses have bought the women’s team. After a very successful debut season in the Premier League, MamKhizes Royal AM will now have a women’s soccer team. The historic announcement was made at KwaZulu Natal on Friday afternoon.
Celtic, who play in the Hollywoodbets Super League, will move to KwaZulu-Natal and will now compete in the same Safa competition as Royal AM men team. The club said Safa approved the sale of the franchise, name change and home stadium to the existing Celtic Ladies FC team.
MaMkhize’s Statement
It’s great to see women’s football on the radar of so many South Africans. With increased investment, sponsorship and development, the long-term goal is to create an equal playing field with our male counterparts. Now is the time to focus on women’s football. Banyana Banyana’s success is an excellent example of why we need to take more steps to advance its professionalism not only in South Africa but also on the African continent.
It’s seems like MaMkhize and her son is here to take over African club football. Last season we all witnessed a shocking Royal AM rise up the PSL league table, next season we could witness a Dstv premiership title victory with MaMkhize pulling up big strings to see that the Royal AM sqaud grow and stay at the top.
What are your thoughts concerning this move made by MaMkhize, do you think she’s here to make a mark or just making big waves just to go dark later on? Don’t forget to like and share this article let’s get more engagements. Thanks.
