Mamazala is Dingaan Khumalo’s show where he helps South Africans with their issues with their in-laws. This week wasn’t about problematic in-laws however, instead they were the ones being given a monumental task to raise grandchildren.

Their daughter-in-law was the one imposing on them and for good reason.

 

 

 
The mother of the children wrote to the show to ask for help because she couldn’t handle raising her children. She wanted Dingaan to help her approach her in-laws who hadn’t even seen her in over 8years, to take the children while she tried to hustle for a job. It was clear she was suffering.

I have to say I was expecting the grandmother to give some pushback about this issue. I mean she, along with her husband aren’t rich. Their son has gone AWOL and no one has any clue where he is. They are just old and living with grant. Yet they didnt hesitate to take the children in with them.

People were applauding the grandmother for her open heart and ability to welcome her grandchildren.

I found it commendable that the grandmother acted with so much love. But for me it also made me wonder what happens in childhood to make men abandon their children. This woman and husband seemed to be sweet and yet their son created this situation by walking away. It’s such a shame that she had to step up now.
