Nhlamulo Baloyi popularly known as Nota was interviewed by Nkululeko on his YouTube channel. Nota in the beginning of the interview spoke about him not looking good in order to not attract women because he has resources and does not want to be taken advantage off. He continued to talk about black women and how it is difficult to date or marry them because of their ‘daddy issues’ and how they grew up poor and in single parent households.

 

What made the interview trend on Twitter was a part where Nota said that he views Mihlali as an object. In his words, he said Mihlali can be bought and killed just like a dog. This statement was a so vile and so ignorant because South Africa is one of the top countries with high gender based violence cases.

Nota continued to compare Mihlali to Karabo Mokoena’s case. Karabo Mokoena was a beautiful young lady who was brutally murdered by her boyfriend and the boyfriend continued to act as if he did not know where Karabo. The interview was a very cold hearted one and people on Twitter were enraged by these statements.

Nota Baloyi’s wife, Berita, has since came out to apologize to Mihlali. She wrote on a Twitter post that she endured the most during her marriage with Nota and has since separated with him since January 2022. She said that Nota is a good man but she feels that he needs mental help because of the things he says and does.

“The day I decided to leave my marriage, is the day I had to choose between being married and being alive,” says Berita.

Although she did not specify what Nota did to her, it is quite scary that her not leaving her marriage meant that she would ultimately die. It seems as though Nota also objectified his wife and perhaps thought of killing her.
