Actress and TV producer Connie Ferguson won big at the DStv Mzansi Viewers Choice Awards (DMVCA) which was held at the Sun Arena in Pretoria on Saturday. The Queen actress took home the award for Favourite Personality of the year.
Dedicating her win to her late husband Shona Ferguson, Connie spoke highly of her best friend and said he motivated her to be great all the time. She also thanked the Ferguson Films family in her speech, honouring them for their undying love.Penning a sweet letter to her supporters saying as tired as she was, she had to personally go and collect her award.“Last night was so special! Tired as I was I’m glad I dragged myself to the #dstvmvca to personally receive the #favoritepersonalityaward you so graciously voted for me to get!” she said.”Thank you for your continued love and support! It’s such a blessing to wake up in the morning and go out to do what you love, what gives you purpose! But the bigger blessing is that it gets to be seen and appreciated by millions, and impact lives in one way or the other. God is good and Jesus is Lord! Forever grateful for His love, grace and mercy,” she continued.
She also penned a letter to him for Fathers Day, “Miss you everyday, especially missed you today! Thank you for showing that it’s not that hard to be a good father! I was blessed to parent with you! Always ONE OF A KIND! Love you FOREVER.”Other winners of the night include Makhadzi who took home two awards, one for Song of the Year and the second one was for Favourite Music Artist or Group. Lawrence also won two nods for Favourite TV Presenter and Ultimate Viewers’ Choice.
Other winners are: Sannah Mcunu – Favourite Actress, Shimza – Favourite DJ, Skhumba Hlophe – Favourite Comedian, Rassie Erasmus – Favourite Sports Personality, and Selbeyonce – Favourite Radio Personality.Reacting to his win, Kwenzo thanked his fans for their support, “I was created to create. Abdul was very humbled by the very first award nomination in his entire career for playing Nqoba on The Wife. He wrote this at the time of his nomination, “I am very thankful for this humbling honor of being nominated for the 1st time in my career by @dstv_mvca_official for BEST ACTOR. I honestly am so grateful for this nomination alone as it means my work is being recognized & that l have won a few hearts within my industry & that for me is my BEST AWARD
