The image above shows Kelly Khumalo at the house where the Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates captain Senzo Meyiwa was shot dead in October 2014.
The defence explained that the contents of the document were relevant to her client’s defence. Contained in the docket is a decision by the director of public prosecutions in Gauteng to have the following people charged:
• Kelly Khumalo.
• Longwe Twala [Kelly Khumalo’s sister then boyfriend].
• Ntombi Khumalo [Kelly Khumalo’s mother].
• Zandi Khumalo.
• Tumelo Madlala [ Senzo Meyiwa childhood friend].
• Mthokozisi Thwala [Senzo Meyiwa friend].
• Maggie Phiri [Ntombi Khumalo’s neighbour].
The court is set to hear the defence plan regarding a second docket in the murder case of Meyiwa. Finally eight years later – the trial is underway however, the defence believes that the people standing trial are the wrong suspects.
When the proceedings were postponed on Friday, the lawyer of the fifth suspect addressed the court on a second docket on the murder of the soccer star. In the second docket it claims that Kelly Khumalo, her mother Ntombi, her sister Gladness, daughter Zandi, her then boyfriend Longwe Twala and a neighbour are being accused of cleaning up the crime scene before the police arrived.
