John Berks who was a radio broadcaster has died after a long illness at the age of 80. He was recognised as the pioneer of TalkRadioSA, obtained an induction to the hall of fame after winning a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010.

 

He was born in Krugersdorp on the 24 September 1941. Worked at LM Radio in Mozambique and then he became a reporter for the Germiston Advocate. He has worked with Swazi Music Radio, Springbok Radio, capital radio 604 Transkei and Radio 5.

He used to do prank calls for entertainment which were popular amongst other radio shows. He was a passionate man who was also dedicated which encouraged him to be celebrated and even awarded with a lifetime achievement award.
