Witness will testify that Kelly Khumalo shot Senzo Meyiwa, lawyer tells court

An eyewitness will testify in the Gauteng High Court that singer Kelly Khumalo accidentally shot Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa. The version of events will be presented by a witness who has not yet been called in the trial, according to defence lawyer Advocate Malesela Teffo. According to Teffo, the witness will testify that Khumalo shot Meyiwa with a revolver that belonged to Longwe Twala. In October 2014, Meyiwa was shot and killed at Khumalo’s mother’s house in Vosloorus.

The murderer and the murder weapon were both present in the house. As I previously stated, this is the theory. The suspects in [case number] 375 (which was opened in 2019) should be the people who were in the house with the deceased that day, according to the case. “It can’t be some people who were never at that address on October 26, 2014,” says the narrator. Longwe Twala is accused number one, Kelly Khumalo is accused number two, Gladness Khumalo is accused number three, Zandi Khumalo is accused number four, Tumelo Madlala is accused number five, Mthokozisi Twala is accused number six, and Maggy Phiri is accused number seven, according to Teffo. Before police arrived, persons inside the residence allegedly devised a plot to inform them that a robbery had occurred, according to Teffo.
