During the burial ceremony for Deborah Fraser, which took place on Saturday, pallbearers carried her casket.

On Tuesday, May 24, the legendary gospel singer Deborah Fraser will pass away and be put to rest.

 
On Saturday, May 21, she was set to be laid to rest in the Lala Kahle Cemetery in Hillcrest, which is located west of Durban. However, her family was compelled to bring her corpse back to the morgue since the severe rain had caused her tomb to get inundated.

“We didn’t bury Deborah on Saturday because of the torrential rains that began on Saturday morning,” stated a family representative named Busi Shibodze. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.” The funeral director gave the family the advice that they should not travel to the cemetery since the storm was too intense for it to be safe to do so.

“The family is keeping themselves busy with arrangements for the funeral, which will take place in private with the priest,”

Bishop Benjamin Dube, Sipho Makhabane, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Senzo Khumalo, Nomcebo Zikode, Khuzani Mpungose, Sipho Mbele, Thembi Nyandeni, KZN Finance MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube, and Saftu secretary-general Zwelinzima Vavi were among the prominent musicians, actors, and politicians who attended Deborah’s funeral service, which took place

The arena was completely filled to capacity with mourners singing farewell songs; however, they were unaware that the family would be forced to postpone her burial due to the flooding.

While other performers paid homage to Deborah with their own renditions of her songs, Deborah’s band played her hits with Nomcebo Zikode.

Deborah passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2018 at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto. She was 56 years old. She was survived by her daughters Nkosana and Aliah.

During the burial ceremony, Deborah was commended for having a kind heart, a distinctive voice, and for being honest and forthright in her communication.
