RIP: Gospel singer Dr Deborah Fraser has passed away

o

Condolences have started pouring in this afternoon following the untimely passing of legendary Gospel musician Dr. Deborah Fraser. In a statement, the family confirmed the sad news saying that she passed away in the presence of her friends and family.

Before going any further it would be fair to also send my deepest condolences to this Gospel Legend. May her soul rest in peace. Sending her family lots of love and strength during this time. There is a guide that helped me process my grief in a healing and empowering way. I hope and wish for every griever to get an opportunity to read it.

Unfortunately there are people who think and suggest that since Deborah Fraser returned/ran away from her Nigerian marriage she was never herself. Apparently they think that she was a living testimony of what Nigerians are plannning with South African women, because allegedly they are on a mission.

According to a media statement issued by the family on Deborah’s official social media accounts the legend passed on today (Sunday 15-05-2022). Fraser’s death is reported to have been caused by an unspecified short illness. The family has since requested to be given space and to process and deal with this tragic situation.

The music industry in South Africa has lost a great legend, especially the gospel fraternity because the singer has contributed so much to the industry. However we believe and trust that the heavens are happy and celebrating to be receiving such a kind and humble soul.

South Africans are also sending their condolences to the Fraser family and giving them messages of support and comfort. At least Deborah’s death does not come as dramatic as most of the previous death by South African artists who either passed away through suicide or accidents.

Khanyi Magubane posted, “May your soul rest in peace mama Deborah Fraser. Thank you for the music, thank you for enduring the struggle of being an artist in South Africa. It was my pleasure to know you, play your music, host you many times on Living Sounds on @SAfmRadio #RIPDeborahFraser.
