Things have changed significantly from the days when young people were fearful of or refused to be ordained as sangomas because to their youth. Many assumed that the sangoma calling was just for the elderly and that children were too young to participate. To avoid the word “sangomas” having a bad connotation. They feared rejection from their peers if they embraced the Calling. These advances have resulted in people in the twenty-first century no longer rejecting their callings and being happy about becoming sangomas, even when they are young.

The question is posed as to why young people are becoming sangomas at the same time that celebrities and ordinary people are doing so as well.

Numerous well-known South African celebrities are converting to the sangoma religion. Being a sangoma in South Africa is no longer as dangerous or shameful as it was in the past, or as young people perceive it to be. By exhibiting their achievement, celebrities also inspire ordinary people to embrace their vocation and to be proud of their origins.

Because they were either inexperienced or ignorant of the practice, the vast majority of young people used to believe that sangoma calling occurred exclusively among the old. When they were summoned to leave the country, some young people used to reject their calling as cold witch doctors. Several of them are embarrassed at such a young age to be referred to be Sangomas. According to popular assumption, Sangomas are not Christians.

Eunice

whose real name is Oratile Maitisa, has accepted the call to become a Sangoma and is currently pursuing the necessary education. She had earlier asserted, as she had done the previous month, that she was a proud young Sangoma.

Celia Kunutu.

Celia Kunutu is the narrator in this story. Shoki Mmola, true name Shoki Mmola, has likewise embraced the calling and is living out her culture as a Sangoma. Despite her celebrity, she accepted the invitation without hesitation.
