Big Zulu owned the radio waves in 2020 after releasing a record breaking single featuring Intaba Yase Dubai titled Imali Eningi. The song has millions of plays on streaming services and YouTube, this is an indication that some coins were made from it. Intaba Yase Dubai went to social media to share that he has not received a dime from this feature and is calling upon Big Zulu and his label to pay what’s due to him. On a statement that was released by Inkabi Records it stated that the agreement that was done prior to the release of the song indicated that Ambitious Records will handle this process. This includes the distribution of the song, splits and music rights (which were signed by both record labels). All financial proceeds that were made from the song, were paid directly to Ambitious Records.

Ambitious under the fire again

Is it the first time that something like this happens? Definitely not. Ambitious Records has been scrutinized in the past for incidences like this and failing to pay artists what’s due to them. This includes the likes of Emtee, who went on to start his own record label. As it stands Ambitious Entertainment hasn’t provided their own side of the story concerning this matter.

OPINION

As always, social media was buzzing with people saying that Ambitious should be canceled because they are more of scammers than a record label company. Unfortunately Big Zulu can’t be linked to this mismanagement of funds because the agreement was clear that royalties will be shared through the record label. Ambitious was supposed to inform their artist immediately after the payment was made and then split the money accordingly.
