Makhadzi, a Limpopo native, had a warm welcome when she arrived in Botswana recently.
While she prepares to release her EP Pain Ya Jealous on Friday, following the release of her album in 2021, she is planning a one-woman show in a Botswana town.
10% of the proceeds from the concert will be donated to local charity in Botswana.
On Wednesday morning, Makhadzi was greeted warmly by a Botswana government minister and the royals of the Batlokwa tribe, who accepted and blessed him.
To meet the distinguished guests, the musician wore shawls and leteisi (Setswana traditional costume), and she was showered with presents and complimented for her achievements in her career.
Makhadzi was moved to tears by the presidential treatment she received, and she stated that Botswana had shown her more affection than her own country, South Africa.
“I thank the government of this country for letting me to have my program here; Botswana is the only country that has showed me so much affection, even more than my own.” Makhadzi stated, “I want to reach out to the younger ones…”
In one of the pictures people noticed something about Makhadzi, that she could be pregnant.
