The succession dispute within the Zulu royal household is still far from over. This comes a few days after president Cyril Ramaphosa recognises Misuzulu KaZwelithini as the rightful heir to the throne.
Prince Simakade kaZwelithini, will seek to stop the coronation of his half-brother Prince Misuzulu as the Zulu king.
Simakade’s lawyer Johan Hammann said his client has instructed him to proceed with an interdict to stay the ceremony pending a review application.
This interdict is most likely going to see a delay in the coronation of Misuzulu as the Zulu King.
Cyril Ramaphosa’s recognition of Misuzulu as the Zulu King however was met with a lot of criticism as some argued that the president is meddling in the affairs of the Zulu royal household which will in future make it seem like he has taken the side of Misuzulu in the raging succession dispute.
It’s been a year since the death of King Goodwill Zwelithini one of the longest serving Zulu kings. The Zulu kingdom has not had a king since then, and many feel it’s high time the coronation should go ahead.
