Mnakwethu Happily Ever season 2 has been heading slowly to the climax of the drama within the various households attempting polygamy. However the story that has kept everyone anxious is the one about MaShelembe, specifically, keeping her away from Langa and MaSithole.
Our virtual hopes have so far been fulfilled, there’s been no sign of her.
Langa’s feeble attempt to get her back have been rebuffed by both her family and MaShelembe herself. In a rather standoffish phonecall, she expressed zero interest while he tried to gauge where she stood. If I could have done so, I would have done cartwheels for the nonchalant way she answered his questions.
However, an issue has been boiling under the surface where her conniving sister wife is concerned. She’s been inching towards it week by week and finally, this week, she burst like pimple and outrightly said that she suspected foul play where her sons illness is concerned, lamenting being in polygamy for it’s dangers.
Now I would never be heartless enough to say a mother shouldn’t care about her child. However, the implication that MaShelembe, a woman who has been bullied out of her home, would retaliate by making a child sick through traditional means is unfair. She is also looking after her own baby as the two women were pregnant at the same time.
MaSithole has the nerve to lament her situation when she walked in it eyes wide open, the only person blindsided here was the one who discovered her husband had paid lobola for another woman on national television.
MaSithole’s sister even questioned why she would stay with Langa if she suspected he had other women and she simply stated she would never leave him. She’s clearly used to pretending to be the victim.
Personal Thoughts
I personally am grateful that she didn’t use MaSithole’s name directly, at least she had enough shame to avoid that. I find MaSithole to be quite an obstinate woman and I don’t mean that as a compliment. She’s set in her own ways and requires no external opinion. She is like a wall, perhaps that is why she called herself a pillar.
MaShelembe has expressed no interest in returning to her life at home and I’m so proud of her. I wish more of the women on the show were brave enough to leave toxic situations. Most of them are staying to save face cause their emen are no prizes in my opinion.
