Nomsa Buthelezi Biography
Nomsa Buthelezi-Shezi is a South African actress and television personality and one of the open members of the South African LGBTQ community in the Rainbow Nation.
Born in the Gauteng, Nomsa knew quite early that she was different – attracted to fellow women. She was fortunate to have parents who encouraged her to express herself without minding what people will think about her sexuality.
Age
Nomsa Buthelezi was born in 1982. She’ll be 40 later this year.
Career
Before entering to television, she had a 17 long career in theatre. In 2008, she played the role of a female “Metro police officer” in the Vodacom “Summer Loving” commercial until 2009.
In 2011, she joined with the SABC1 sitcom Abo Mzala and played the role “Thandi” until the end of third season. She later won the award for the Best Supporting Actress in TV Comedy category at the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA).
Then in 2013, she appeared in the Mzansi Magic sitcom Samsokolo with the role “Dudu”. In the following year, she acted in the Vuzu sitcom Check Coast. Then she played the role “Awelani” in the soapie Muvhango.
House
Details about Nomsa Buthelezi and her spouse Shezi might be out there, but that of her house – or rather their house – isn’t. that’s one detail Nomsa would not be bothered with. That notwithstanding, she’s said to share a nice crib with her children and Shezi.
Daughter & Child
Nomsa Buthelezi’s only known relationship with a man led to the birth of her two children. In an Instagram session last year, she had noted that she has an open relationship with her children and they know about her sexuality.
Wife
Nomsa Buthelezi’s wife is no other than Zandile Shezi, a physiotherapist practicing in Ladysmith. The couple has been married since 2019 but does not have a child together.
The year after they married, 2020, was one of reflection for them. Zandile had commented that the lobola negotiations were tough because Nomsai’s family were demanding a high price. Eventually, they were able to reach a common ground.

South Africa is popular for not failing to recognize those that are making a notable impact in the country. Nomsa has also smiled home with an award following her outstanding performance in the industry. She received a Golden Horn Award, Best Supporting Actress, TV Comedy.
Parents
She was born into the family of Vezi and Magdalene. Though her father had suspected her sexuality even before she made it open. The suspicion followed her actions, though she lacked the courage to confess her sexuality to her father. She concealed her sexuality at that time because the practice was not yet as common as it is today. They then decided to wait for her to reveal it to them, with time she shared did. In her words, her parents wanted her to be in the right relationship with the right person.

After she went public on her sexuality, many picked interest in the topic. Her social media platform became the source of getting more and detailed information. Nomsa shares pictures with her followers on her lifestyle, relationships, and more.
