Have you ever wondered how Kalawa Jazmee came about? Today on Podcast And Chill With MacG, we got to hear a lot about the life of Oscar Sibonginkosi Mdlongwa, better known as Oskido. We finally have some understanding of the humble beginnings and how he helped a lot of the biggest artists in the South African music industry right now.

 
Oskido pretty much gave us the formula of his success, but for him to be where he is, he obviously had to outsmart his rivals and there is a particular story about him and the King of Kwaito, Arthur Mafokate.

It turns out that there is a bitter history between the two and this involved their labels. There was not much that was said, but we got to know that they never spoke for years because of a rivalry that started when Arthur had artists who sounded exactly to a musical group that was signed to Oskido’s label and this group was Boom Shaka.

This went on for some time and then, one day, Oskido found out that one of the artists from Boom Shaka, Lebo Mathosa was on one of Arthur’s music videos and she had been seeing Arthur, they were dating.

And this made things worse, increasing the tension that was already there, Oskido even compared the feud to that of American late rappers, Biggie and 2Pac, that is how we could tell how serious it was. Their faces would be on newspapers most of the time, it was Oskido’s Kalawa and Arthur’s 999 Music against each other for some time.

But as the time went by, they squashed the beef and they just moved on with their lives, then they were forced to be on talking terms because Oskido child was friends with Arthur’s child.

As Oskido puts it, the children were the ones who brought them together and it is just interesting how everything ended. And when it comes to the Arthur and Lebo’s relationship, Oskido still does not know till this day how Arthur managed to get Lebo to be on his side.

Maybe Arthur will also get a chance to tell the story because one thing about Oskido’s interview is that, it showed us that there are a lot of stories that need to be told.
