Unathi Msengana was born in Grahamstown, the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. Victoria Girls High School provided her secondary education before she was accepted into the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands to study International Media Studies. Aside from those pursuits, she also attended Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa, where she studied journalism and theater. Since she began her professional career, most television fans were familiar with her as the co-host of season three of Popstars with Rowan Cloete in 2004.


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

During the 2011 season of M-reality Net’s show Idols, she filled in for Mara Louw as a judge. Unathi Msengana has appeared and played the same part in more than five seasons of the famous competition since then.

When Unathi Nkayi graduated from college in 2004, she began her professional career.

On Popstars, a popular television show, she was hired as a co-host. Rowan Cloete and Unathi Nkayi served as co-hosts.

As a result of her success as a judge on the reality singing competition show Idols SA, Unathi Nkayi transitioned into the role of host in 2011. She has been a judge on the show for eight seasons, making her the longest-serving member of the panel.

With other aspirants, Unathi Nkayi has tried out for SABC’s Castle Loud program, which will air in the near future. When she had a successful audition, she was cast in the role and progressed through the ranks to become the show’s co-producer.

For sixteen years, Unathi Nkayi worked for the renowned YFM radio station. Metro FM hired her in 2014 and she lasted till 2017. Later this year, she will join Kaya FM.

As a result of her work on the animated series Doc McStuffins, she gained notoriety and acclaim. Rita The Cheetah, a Disney edutainment series character, was her next role.
