Congratulations are in order for Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane who has made the country proud with her achievement in the Miss Universe.

Lalela Mswane went against all odds and went to succeed at the Miss Universe that was held at Israel.

Mswane decided to ignore all the critics and followed her dreams and indeed it came true. She inspired many people in Mzansi who felt proud of her as social media on Monday morning was flooding with congratulatory messages.

On Monday morning, she became the toast on social media after finishing second runner up at the Miss Universe pageant that was held in on Monday.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mswane finished behind Miss India Harnaaz Sandhu and Miss Paraguay Nadia Ferreira.

She beat Miss Colombia and Miss Philippines in the top five and 75 other women.

Speaking at the pageant, Mswane urged yoikh women to choose courage over comfort at every opportunity they get.

“I would like young women to know that since the beginning of time they have had everything within them to achieve anything they wanted. It is the world that convinced we do not.”

She had earlier impressed in the questions and after section where she spoke of cancel culture and advocated for “redemption culture”.

Mswane’s participation in the pageant has not been easy as the government pulled out from sponsoring her and other civil rights groups had called on her to boycott the pageant. They wanted her to take a stance against Israel in that country’s conflict with Palestine.

After government pulled out their endorsement as they said that the Miss SA organisation did not seem eager to appreciate the negative impact of representing the country in Israel. Miss SA organisers defended her and said that it was not getting involved in a political war of words.

In an interview, Mswane said that her soul would not have been at peace had she skipped the pageant.

“Certain people have put me through hell and back. It has not been the easiest thing to deal with. But I chose to be optimistic. They way everything unfolded reminded me of His greatness and that is why I am here,” said Mswane.

Social media users have called on the Minister of Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa to issue her an apology and also congratulate her.
