Former Generation’s actor joins top movie

Johannesburg- When one door closes, another opens. The legendary actor had suffered a lot in lockdown as he was at home looking for roles to act at.

This veteran actor is considering it luck to land such a role, in an international movie.

It has been reported that Seputla Sebogodi is set to star in The Woman King alongside South African actress, Thuso Mbedu who is making waves international in the film scene.

Seputla will also star with the likes of Viola Davis and John Boyega.

The casting news of Seputla being in the cast of The Woman King was announced by entertainment commentator Phil Mphela.

“Sebogodi joins Viola Davis, Thuso Mbedu & John Boyega in the upcoming historical epic movie. The film will be shot in South Africa so more local talent is expected to be cast.”

The Woman King does not have a release date yet, but based on the release schedule for the movie’s distributor, TriStar Pictures, it most probably won’t debut until 2023 at the earliest.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Woman King is inspired by true events that took place in tbr Kingdom of Dahomey, one of the most powerful states of Africa in the 18th and 19th centuries.

The story follows Nanisca (played by Viola Davis), the general of an all-female military unit, and Nawi (Thuso Mbedu), an ambitious recruit. Together, the pair fight enemies who violated their honour, enslaved their people and threatened to destroy everything they’ve lived for.
