10 things you probably didn’t know about MaMkhize

Shauwn Mkhize who is popularly known as MaMkhize, is a South African businesswoman, entrepreneur, philanthropist, television personality as well as a socialite. MaMkhize has recently written the headlines in the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season after she purchased a veteran South African side Bloemfontein Celtic and renamed it to Royal AM and relocating it to KZN.


Off the field of play, MaMkhize is perhaps best known for her Mzansi Magic reality TV show called “Kwa Mam’Mkhize”. She has taken club ownership to a different level with her uni celebrations of Royal AM’s victories in extravagant fashion with flashy cars and cold, hard cash being splashed all around.

We thus did our research about the well known Businesswoman and came up with ten things you probably didn’t know about Shaun Mkhize.

Number 1

Firstly, she was born and raisex in the village of Umbumbulu in KZN under the care of her mother, Florence Mkhize. Florence was an ANC veteran and anti-apartheid activist. She has graduated with a Diploma in Accounting from what is now known as Durban University of Technology.

MaMkhize married Sbu Mpisane in 1999, but they got divorced in 2019. During their marriage they had a son, Andile Mpisane who is known as the youngest Chairman in PSL history. Sbu Mpisane had a daughter called Sbahle, at the time of their marriage.

In January of 2020, MaMkhize premiered her reality Television show, “Kwa Mam’Mkhize” which was airing on Mzansi Magic and featured her children and her entire family. The show went on to be awarded as the best reality TV show at the 2020 Hollywood American Prestigious Awards.

Last year (2020), MaMkhize was introduced to social media and in just under eight months, she had gained over 1 million instagram followers. Her followers have given her the title of “mother of the nation.

In October of 2020, MaMkhize was nominated for Socialite of the year and fag hag of the year at Feather Awards.

MaMkhize’s philanthropic efforts have been targeted at helping women as well as children around her native province, KwaZulu-Natal.

In March of this year, she made her first appearance on SABC 1 popular soapie Uzalo as a mysterious wealthy woman who had interest in buying the KKC

In April 2021, MaMkhize collaborated with SABC 1’s Expressions show and the Department of Correctional Services for labour to build around 20 houses for the underprivileged with the help of prison inmates.

Despite the good publicity, MaMkhize had few run-ins with the law during her career as she was at one stage accused of corruption and convicted of fraud.

By mid-2021, MaMkhize completed the purchase of PSL side Bloemfontein Celtic for a reported fee of around R50 million.
