The spirit of Ace Ncobo’s father proves that ancestors are real and are in fact watching over us by guiding his son to renovate his grandparents house after it was abandoned for a long time and did not even have a roof.
Although Some might not remember him, but Andile Aldrin “Ace” Ncobo (53) is a former South African top tier football referee who made his mark during the 2000s. He was born in Nqadu Village, Willowvale, Eastern Cape on the 10th of October, in 1967.
Not only was Ncobo a FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) referee, but he was also the principal of Dumalisile Comprehensive High School in Butterworth. He was also a university lecturer but due to his unparalleled love for soccer, he resigned from education in 2007 when he took up a position as general manager for the Premier Soccer League. In fact, he served as a referee in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.
Anyways, Ncobo went to his official Facebook account to celebrate having renovated the house of his late grandparents. He says the house was built by his mother for his paternal grandmother for having survived his grandfather for a long time.
He reminisces about how they used to sleep in the lounge on the floor while visiting because the house only had one bedroom, but Ncobo has now changed that. The house now has four bedrooms which are all en-suite bedrooms (term used to describe bedroom that is directly connected to a bathroom).
This house however, isn’t the house Ace was initially intending to renovate. He intends to renovate his parents house— not his grand parents’ house. His father didn’t live in his home village due to the fact that he was the king’s advisor and the king needed him close by.
Ncobo says his father relentlessly came to his dreams and told him to renovate his grandparents house instead. He ended up listening and did what his father asked of him, and soon after, things started looking up for Ace.
“I relented and then started to build. Even from the week when I started just fencing the homestead, things started to change for the better. Deals that I’d almost given up on started to materialize. Clients who had stalled on signing contracts started to chase me.”, Ncobo says in his Facebook post.
The message in Ace’s story is simple. He is trying to show us that ancestors are real and through their guidance and assistance we can achieve great things. Just by listening to his father, a lot of things started working out for him.
