Terry Pheto is a well-known South African actor, businessman, and producer, best known for his role as Tsotsi in Tsotsi, a 2005 film that was nominated for an Academy Award and won a Golden Globe.
In 2008, Pheto was announced as the new face of L’Oréal SA (formerly known as L’Oréal). In 2019, she became an ambassador for Longines, a luxury Swiss watchmaker known for its precision and craftsmanship. Pheto is one of the most well-known and renowned actors in the South African film industry. She is also well-known for keeping detailed records of her personal affairs.
In part because of her reputation for secrecy, Terry Pheto was able to keep facts about her personal life from the public eye. There is little information available about her origins, past, or family. However, based on her social media posts, it appears that she is in close proximity to her mother and that her father is running late.
When Terry was growing up, her family resided in Soweto with her mother and father. At the time, she was involved in the local theater’s development process. At the age of 21, she was spotted by a casting agent who had played a role in her ascent to fame.
Terry Pheto made his cinematic debut in 2005, appearing in the film Tsotsi, in which he played a supporting role. The film then went on to become a critical success, earning the Academy Award for “Best Foreign Language Film” in 2006.
It was the first non-French-speaking African film to attain this distinction. It also made history by becoming the first film from South Africa to win a Golden Globe Award (Best Foreign Language Film).
Terry Pheto was in a relationship with South African DJ and producer DJ Sbu for more than a year, beginning in 2009.
In 2010, the pair decided to call it quits for unspecified reasons. According to rumors, the negative publicity surrounding Sbu has exacerbated their current state of disarray. Pheto was apparently asked to end her relationship with him by the L’Oréal company, for which she serves as an ambassador. At the time, she dismissed the rumors, claiming that they were not the cause of their disintegration, as had been suggested.
In 2019, it was revealed that Pheto had tied the knot with IT genius Masande Peter. Masande is a man of Xhosa descent. While the allegation is unconfirmed, the couple was reported to have been dating for a long time before Masande brought up the subject of their relationship.
Pheto refused to corroborate the stories, ostensibly in an effort to keep the attention away from her alleged partner’s identity.
