“At The Age Of 21 I Already Had Five Children,” says Gomora Star Also Known As Zodwa.

Sana Mchunu of Gomora is one of the most inspiring rags to riches stories. The actress, who rose to popularity as the troubled Zodwa on the hit soap, opened up about her background on Jozi FM, claiming her broken marriage helped enhance her career and she is grateful for that.

On the radio, she encouraged women to leave if their marriage was no longer serving them and cautioned the younger generation not to make the same mistakes she did. She urged them to go to school and make a life for themselves apart from their husbands.

She stated that her failed marriage shaped her into the celebrity she is today, saying, “I am grateful that it ended, else I would not be here”.

She went on to say that she is a mother of seven children but has not finished her education. She also discussed how, at the age of 21, she became a mother of five children.

“I want to talk about my story to encourage young women to go to school and empower themselves. Today, I am a mother of seven children and I don’t even have matric. At the age of 21, I already had five children,” she continued.

When her marriage dissolved, she realized how important it was for her to return to school and establish a life for herself. This also required her to leave her children with their father. A difficult decision was to be made.

Shen discussed her break in the profession, saying, “One of my friends, who is a singer, had requested me to accompany her to auditions.” She chose to start at Kalawa Jazmee while we were on our way. She then requested me to accompany her to the auditions and stand in line for her. Unfortunately, she was unable to attend the auditions because she was stuck in Kalawa. I was then persuaded to audition. Fortunately, I was cast.

Sana is referring to Winnie Khumalo, who she mentioned in an interview with Isolezwe as having assisted her with her career. She informed the outlet that Winnie accompanied her to a number of audition locations where she landed her first roles, which led to prominent appearances on telenovelas such as Generations, The Queen, and many others.

She even talked about having her first child at the age of 14 and how the society regarded her. Herself claims that Zodwa and she are similar, which is why she kills it every time.

On the radio, she went on to remark that Zodwa’s character was only supposed to stay for a limited time, but because she nailed it from the start, she was able to keep her on our screens, “My character was supposed to be temporary, but I made sure that I shined.” The brief stated, “Zodwa is an irresponsible and drunken lady, and her kid will be taken away.”
