Shona Ferguson, an actress and producer, has died. On Friday, a spokesperson from the Ferguson Foundation, Conrad Mwanza, verified the news to Drum.
“He died this afternoon. It’s not easy, and the family is struggling to cope. A statement will be out shortly “He informs Drum. The family stated he died at noon on Friday, July 30, 2021, in a statement made on behalf of the Ferguson Foundation.
“We regret to inform you that Mr. Shona Ferguson has passed away. He died today at 12 p.m. (Friday, 30 July 2021). Mr. Ferguson’s premature death was caused by problems connected to Covid-19, not a heart procedure as reported in the media “The statement is as follows:
During this time, the family has requested privacy.
“We ask that you give the family time to grieve and respect their privacy during this difficult time. More information will be released as soon as possible.”
Shona was an actor and producer who starred in a number of shows, the most well-known of which was his role as Jerry on The Queen.
Ferguson Films, founded by Shona Ferguson (47) and her wife Connie Ferguson in 2010, has introduced to the country films such as The Queen, Rockville, iGazi, The Throne, The Herd, and Kings of Jo’burg, to name a few.
They also run The Ferguson Foundation, which is dedicated to empowering and helping underserved people in business, education, and entertainment, with the goal of eventually developing industry leaders.
After news of his death broke, tributes began to stream in, with many reluctant to accept it. Shona’s death easy got heated up when it was confirmed that he passed away at Netcare Milpark Hospital. Economic Freedom Fighters Commander in Chief, Julius Malema was the first to take a jab at the private hospital.
The likes of sports present, David Kekana, South African anti-apartheid activist and politician, and the second wife of Nelson Mandela, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, African National Congress Chief Whip Jackson Mthembu, just to name a few, died at the very same hospital; but does that mean the hospital is incompetent ?
The Milpark Hospital is a private hospital in western Parktown, Johannesburg, in the area known as Milpark, and owned by Netcare Limited. It has a level 1 accredited trauma unit, and cardiology and cardio-thoracic services. It has 346 beds, of which 95 are used for high care and intensive care. This is one if the best hospital in the country.
