Ever wondered how the SABC1 soapie Uzalo’s real-life sisters keep things professional between themselves when they are at work?

Uzalo’s creative director Mmamitse Thibedi and her sister Nyalleng Thibedi – who portrays the character of Zekhethelo Mhlongo on the soapie, are sisters in real-life.

The Thibedi sisters are living together in Durban, they have been living together ever since Nyalleng relocated to Durban from Johannesburg.

“We’re very close, my mom raised us to be very close. But, we hardly ever have time to hang out because she’s always working and on-set, it’s strictly professional”. The Uzalo actress, Nyalleng said.

“I look at her as my boss, I don’t question her and some of the cast members didn’t even know that we were related. There is a barrier, work is work, and home is home. And there is a high level of respect.

“My sister inspires me. She was 8-years-old when she started drawing and that was my first encounter with art. I had this picture of Eddie Murphy on my wall and her drawing came out exactly how that was. Clearly that was talent”. Nyalleng explained.

The Uzalo actress Nyalleng was born on the 4th of September 1980, as of 2021, the actress will be 41-years-old. She is a successful actress, model, TV personality and a qualified engineer.

Between Nyalleng and her sister Mmamitse Thibedi, it is uncommon currently who is older between the sisters. As information about Mmamitse is not publicly known except that she’s co-owns of Stsined Glass, working alongside former president Jacob Zuma’s daughter Gugulethu Zuma-Ncube.
