The actor has put those rumours to bed with Daily Sun and has stated: “My phone is flooded with many phone calls from people asking me why I’m leaving Uzalo.”The actor also stated that he enjoys plays Sbu even though a lot of actors are leaving. ”As much as many lead actors are leaving, I still enjoy being part of Uzalo and showcasing my acting talent with them. I agree that my character is rare for now, but that is because there were many reshoots to accommodate those who are leaving the show. More time was given to them and as soon as their smooth exit is over, everything will be back to normal.”
The actor also confirmed he signed a new contract with the show by stating: “We have negotiated with producers to bring back the old Sbu, who was the township gangster. We will see the response of viewers who will tell us which Sbu they like; the funny, hyperactive Sbu or the original gangster.
We will not kill the current Sbu, but we will tone down the funny side of the character and make it focus more his gangster side like the old days.”Rumours of Mzansi’s funny character come after the shows four leading actors; Jet Novuka, Baby Cele, Siyabonga Shibe and Dawn Thandeka King exit the show! Baby Cele who played the role of Gabisile was killed by Qhabanga last month after she confessed to killing his son and baby-mama in the church.
Qhabanga has now sold the church to Mamkhize’s character and will no longer be the pastor in the church. Jet Novuka has apparently been written out of the show as well as Dawn Thandeka who resigned for another show on another channel. Novuka played the role of Captain Mpabanani whilst, King played the role of MaNgcobo.
