Mzwandile Ngubeni is a South African actor and television presenter best known for hosting the SABC1 television series Choice (2005-2007) and Spirit Sundae, from 2009-2012.
Besides presenting, he has appeared on television productions such as Isidingo, Generations, Unicity, Mzansi, Intersexions and City Ses’la. He started presenting in 1994 on the show Wordpower.
Trained at the National School of the Arts and AFDA (where he won the M-Net Best Student of the Year in 2003 and the Best Alumni Student in 2005 for Choice), he has also acted in several feature films including Witness to a Kill, In Desert and Wilderness and Jerusalema.
He is also the director of Theta Sonke Communications.
In 2013 he was the host of the SABC1 religious programme Buzz About Gospel and was the featured guest on an episode of the SABC1 music talk show Zaziwa.
Also in 2013, Mzwandile had a major supporting role in the Mzansi Magic miniseries Taxi Ride, a continuation of David Kau’s 2012 film of the same name. In it he plays Gubi, a lovable loser who stumbles across Antonella the Italian Tourist at the taxi rank and somehow manages to convince her for her hand in marriage. He spends all his time working on the preparations for his wedding to Antonella and dealing with the lobola negotiations.
Other television series he has acted in or presented include Justice for All, Backstage, Youth Expressions, Be Financially Smart and Now or Never. He also had a recurring role on the e.tv drama series Umlilo.
In 2017 he hosted the SABC2 entrepreneurship and educational reality series Game Plan.
In February 2021, he debuted on the 1Magic soapie The River in the role of Elvis Baloyi, a devious genius who pursues the show’s lead character Lindiwe Dlamini-Dikane (Sindi Dlathu) with the intention of marrying her.
