The name Kaizer Chiefs was then derived by combining Motaung’s first name Kaizer and Atlanta Chiefs.
Throughout the years Amakhosi has always been known as mostly as family owned business. Kaizer Motaung’s children hold top positions at the club. Bobby serves as the team manager, Jessica serves as the Marketing Manager and while Kemiso serves as the Digital Manager. Motaung Jr is reportedly being groomed to take over as the CEO of the club.
Back in 1995, Kaizer Motaung Snr sold a stake of 40% to Primedia for a fee reported to be R40 million. In 2010 the two parties would then reach an agreement with Motaung buying back the shares for a fee of R70 million. Kaizer Chiefs have since been known as a family owned football team, with Motaung Snr as the majority shareholder.
Through brief investigations we were able to find out that businessman Mike Nkuna also owns a stake at Kaizer Chiefs. Nkuna is the Founder and Executive Chairperson Of Mangisita Group Of Companies. He is mostly known as a pioneer of rural and township development. Further findings also reveal that he owns a number of shopping malls across the country.
At this stage we were able to find out that Nkuna owns a minority stake at the club and also serves as one of the Directors in the Board.
