Sdumo Mtshali who rose to fame in the entertainment industry started his career from theatre to acting in reality TV shows, directing and producing.

Sdumo Mtshali to exit Isibaya as its ratings dip

Isibaya that started airing in 2013 has become a household name in Mzansi. The South African entertainment industry is rife with rumors that the show’s ratings are depressing and that 2021 might see Isibaya coming to a finish.

This might be the reason why one of the first ever actors on the telenovela, Sdumo Mtsali, will be quitting the show. He is said to be leaving Mzansi Magic’s telenovela Isibaya to pursue other acting projects. Sdumo Mtshali’s tribute to Isibaya crew

After a whole year of speculation, Mzansi Magic finally confirmed last month that Isibaya will be coming to an end sometime in 2021.

While the date of the finale of Isibaya remains unclear, Actor Sdumo Mtshali, who has been playing Sbusiso on the show since its inception, took to Instagram to thank the production for a great run.His post was captioned:

“Eight seasons playing father and son! Eight seasons constantly teaching our audience about the importance of family, culture and black love! One of my grateful career moves of all time. Thank you Bheki Mkhwane.”

A lovely tribute to a beautiful friendship

Nomzamo Mbatha who played Isibaya’s beloved character of Thandeka Zungu, wife of Sbusiso recently shared a beautiful message to Sdumo Mtshali, her ‘reel’ husband.The two friends who graced the small screens and won the hearts of many with their love story. Years later, Nomzamo Mbatha’s role came to an end when Thandeka Zungu.

But what continued was their friendship that began on the sets of Isibaya.


An excerpt from her message read:

“I want people to know the kind of heart you carry. How you nearly missed a flight out of Durban just so you could help me do readings for the last Coming 2 America tape submission. Letting me know I got it. You have always wanted to see me and others soar. Here’s to Sbu and Thandeka! Here’s to you!”
