Gazlam is a South Africans television drama series that premiered in 2002 and had its season finale in 2005

It ventured into love, sex and relationships against a background of HIV/AIDS. But at the centre of it all was S’fiso.

The protagonist of the series was S’fiso, a young man from the farms who leaves his girlfriend, Khethiwe, to find his brother Welile and make a better life for himself.

Eventually Sfiso’s discovers that he is a good music producer and gets signed by Jerome, but later gets into an entanglement with Jerome and his wife Lerato; on the other side, pursuing Thuli (his brother’s wife).

He becomes depressed and starts doing cocaine.

We also see GP infecting Portia with HIV after having a “no strings attached” relationship. Portia lets GP know, but GP gets enfuriated and lays hands on Portia for telling him. Portia heals from the trauma and starts taking ARV’s, but GP later dies from full-blown AIDS.
