Former The Queen actor and Moja Love’s TV host, Aaron Moloisi has finally come out and addressed the rumours of him being a sangoma.
Rumours of him being a sangoma began when several fans spotted him on several occasions dressed in white beads around his neck which are mostly worn by izangoma or people born with spiritual gifts.
The media personality denies these claims of him being spiritually gifted because he’s simply “African and proud.” He admits that people address him as “mkhulu” because they’re simply respecting him.
He stated in an interview with Daily Sun: “Just because people call me mkhulu or say thokoza gogo or mkhulu doesn’t mean that I’m a sangoma. They say that out of respect.”
However Sazi Mhlongo who is the spokesperson for SATHA (South African Traditional Healers Association)says the white and red beads are associated with being a sangoma and a person just can’t wear them because the beads connects them with the ancestors.

Rhythm City actor, Zola Hashati began his started after his great-grandmother died in 2009. This is what he said about his calling in a Daily Sun interview: “I think after my great-grandmother died in 2009, she became my ancestor and was always protecting me from evil things. I should have listened to the call in 2009, but I did not understand it… I still believe in the Lord, but I am a child of the soil.”
Lerato Mvelase
Isibaya actress, Lerato Mvela accepted her spiritual gifts in 2015 and spent six months training to become a traditional healer. She stated in a Metro FM interview: “It was very hard on my kids. I mean my kids sleep with me, even today. So for them to wake up and mommy isn’t there…it was very hard for my kids after six months of me being away but kids are very understanding actually. We don’t give them enough credit.”
Phelo Bala
Musician Phelo Bala also accepted his calling in 2014 fter experiencing physical body changes. This what he said in a Drum magazine interview: “I am a sangoma; music is not my calling and I will not do it forever. Whether I have healed people through music or in my sangoma practices; my calling is in healing.”
