This Time Simphiwe Dana Is Mad At The Government She’s being vocal and fiery.

Post main imageAward-winning singer Simphiwe Dana is angry. She’s hit out at the government for not supporting small-scale businesses. She herself is the owner of a small business, so she is talking from her personal experience. She took to Twitter to share a personal message regarding this matter.

Simphiwe recently implied that she is unemployed. This is probably why she is being vocal about her venture. In her Tweets, she says that the government is only interested in supporting big businesses. They’re not keen on helping those working at a small-scale. This includes her own brand. Her perspective is that for the government to give assistance to smaller businesses, they have to build up to become large-scale. But that is a tough situation – especially during the pandemic. Many start-ups have found themselves short on investment and going into losses. Several had to cut their staff and budgets. A few even had to shut shop. The ‘Bamako’ star wrote, “We have businesses ourselves. However small. But to get assistance from government we have to work for big business. And we know the roots/ origins of these big businesses.”

Fresh from getting flack

She’s fresh from getting criticism over some comments she’d made over nanny duties. Anele Mdoda had posted a Tweet about how she had given her dress to the nanny to wash. But it had ended up with color on it. The dress was ruined and Anele was sad that it had cost her money.
To this, Simphiwe commented that she always asks her nanny to wash her clothes and linen by hand. Tweeple found this very ‘extra’ and sent out comments gently teasing her about her choices.

And, not long back, she’d called Somizi out!

In another situation, Simphiwe had called out Somizi for abusing journalists. She said that he was out of line for doing so. For those who know, Somizi has been in a lot of controversy over posting the private number of a particular journalist on his social media, after she kept badgering him about his relationship with his husband. Somizi lost is cool and eventually said, “Deadline yo msunu kanyoko, golo lika yihlo, u fucken abortion survivor”.

At first, she’d said, “I don’t think Somizi is wrong. There are boundaries. Respect them. Us being public figures doesn’t create grounds for uba wena usiqhele (for y’all to treat us like this). Otherwise write your story ungasifaki”, she tweeted.
