George Lebese, one of South Africa’s favorite international footballers celebrates his 32nd birthday today. The left winger who now plays for Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC in the USL Championship was born on 3 February 1989 in Mamelodi.
After starting his football career with Arcadia Shepherds, George Lebese played with the Kaizer Chiefs from 2008 – 2017. He moved to American team Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC in 2020.
He made it to the first call-up to the South African national team in November 2011, making his international debut against Ivory Coast in 2011.
His Kaizer Chiefs buddies nicknamed the Speedy winger George Lebese as ‘Geeza’ or ‘Milkshake’ for his light skin.

George’s buddies within the sports fraternity, including Itumeleng Khune and his wife, Sphelele Makhunga, George Maluleke were among those who came to attend the nuptials.
