The year began with the sad news of Zululand FM’s station manager, Dr. Ngcobo and within few days after, the country has learnt with shock and sadness at the death of the radio veteran.
SABC Radio station, Ukhozi FM has lost its former station manager, Welcome Bhodloza Nzimande, whom it was reported on Friday morning that he has passed on.
For 32 years, Nzimande worked at Ukhozi FM as a radio presenter and was then promoted to be the station manager. He did wonders at the post as the listenership grew a lot. In 2010, he put the ropes down as he retired from being the station manager.
He also presented the SABC 1 show which was called Ezodumo. It was a classic show that plays Maskandi music and he also did wonders on that show.
Nzimande will be remembered for his remarkable work in developing and promoting traditional music, called Maskandi. He brought unity in the industry and ensured maskandi music is recognised and reaches level best.
His passing has devastated many as they were left reeling in shock. Kwa Zulu Natal premier, Sihle Zikalala expreessed his condolences to the family of Nzimande at the passing of their father. He identified Nzimabde as the pillar of strength.
