This morning South Africa woke up to the hashtag, #RIPGeeSixFive with tweeps mourning the loss of musician Gee Six Five.

A lady by the name Sbu Mpungose, who’s also a magazine editor, reported that Gee Six Five is no more. Mpungose also claims that the musician is her aunt. Her tweet from this morning shocked thousands of fans.

“My beloved aunt, MumNcane who many of you know as #GeeSixFive is no more. She displayed leadership throughout her life, was the epitome of fearlessness & inspired many with her single #ObaniLababantu.

South Africans are shocked and saddened by her reported passing as they saw Gee Six Five as an inspiration. She made us believe that anything is possible.

Although there hasn’t been any other confirmation except the Tweet from Sbu, who claims that Gee Sex Five was her aunt, tributes have been flooding in through social media.

Just a few days after her one and only performance as Gee Six Five, Olpha Selepe has reportedly passed away.
