It’s fair to say that Bonang Matheba is no longer securing bags – bags are securing her.
The latest addition to Queen B’s glittering CV is a partnership with the largest mobile network in Africa, MTN, on a new app perfectly titled Bonang Matheba’s World.
Bonang shared the news in a video announcement across her social media pages. “Excited to be joining the MTN Family…🥳😍🥂 780k strong, & counting…welcome to Bonang’s World…👑🐝 now available on Africa’s Largest Network,” she captioned the funky video announcement.
The app promises exclusive daily content and an Ask Me Anything section. She’s already very responsive to and interactive with fans on social media, so clearly she’s now stepping things up a notch. A queen never rests.
“Come into my world, where you’ll get a sneak peek and all exclusive content,” the words dance across the screen in the video, as Queen B poses and dances in various wigs and looks, reminding us why she’s THE megastar.”Live it, love it, play it” is the app’s tagline. We’re sold. And so are Queen B’s fans, who have flooded her comments with heart emojis, fire emojis and declarations of their undying love and admiration for her (as well as claims that they will stick with the network purely to get access to Bonang content).
This is a clever move because since she’s made it clear that a new season of her hit reality show Being Bonang is unlikely (despite fans’ pleas), it feels like there’s been a big hole when it comes to a steady stream of content for Queen B fans. This new app will obviously solve that problem and possibly win Bonang some new fans – although who isn’t an admirer of the businesswoman and media queen?
To say Bonang has been making moves is a major understatement: she added a new member to the hugely successful House of BNG family with the launch of the Nectar, her House of BNG Prestige Reserve has scored 93pts at the Platter’s Guide 2021, she joined US station iHeart Radio (with her show starting in 2021) and she was named the 4th most admired woman in the world.
Phew! What will she do next, run for president? No doubt she would secure many votes.
This isn’t Bonang’s first foray into the app world – she launched one with Cell C in 2017, and while that didn’t last, she hasn’t let that deter her. If at first you don’t succeed…
