Multi-award winning musician Sjava can now breathe a huge sigh of relief as he will no longer be prosecuted for rape. His ex-girlfriend Lady Zamar had opened a rape case against him in 2019 at a local police station, which was then handed over to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).

In a statement he released addressing these rape allegations, he denied raping Lady Zamar however apologised for the hurt he caused her. Sjava reiterated countless times that the rape accusations are false.
According to Lady Zamar’s statement done in a similar manner, she accused Sjava of raping her at a hotel in Thohoyondou, Limpopo. This rape incident allegedly happened in 2017 after a concert they had both attended.
Sowetan Live had gotten a hold of Limpopo police spokesperson Col Moatshe Ngoepe, who confirmed that the case against Sjava was declined for prosecution on November 5.
“Last year the case docket was handed over to the senior public prosecutor for a decision. On November 5, the case docket was withdrawn by the director of public prosecutions at court,” he told the publication.
The NPA spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi told Sowetan Live that there was no concrete evidence to arrest Sjava and charge him of rape. “The state declined to prosecute the case because it believed the facts or evidence do not support a successful prosecution.”
Sjava had suffered a heavy blow from the industry which conforms to the requests of social media and their ‘cancel culture.’ He lost out on gigs and was pulled from Uzalo after shooting had started. In our relationship a lot happened that left her unhappy as I was well invested in my music and neglecting her in the process,” he opened up.
Sjava said at the time that he is against rape and women abuse or abuse of all forms, it baffles him that he would be categorized under those men who are abusers because he speaks about it a lot through his music.
Lady Zamar had also addressed these allegations saying that she had a breast reduction surgery done in July 2017. Her doctor advised her that she was not allowed to have sex for about six weeks after it was done.
