Siyabonga Shibe has officially left Uzalo but judging from his lengthy social media post, he is heading towards greener pastures. Affectionately known as pastor Mdletshe on SABC 1’s telenovela, he has filmed his last scene with the soap and could not find the right words to describe that momentous celebration he had with the cast and crew.

Earlier this year, it was rumoured that Siyabonga Shibe and Dawn Thandeka King would be leaving the show because they were accused of having some diva tendencies. They both refuted those claims, but now Siyabonga is leaving on his own terms.
His exit is not entirely for good, as he has kept his fans’ hopes up by promising them “he will be back.”
In a lengthy Instagram post he thanked each and every person who made his stay at Uzalo an unforgettable one.
“What a great journey it has been with #uzalo_sabc1 I enjoyed every moment of this production. I would love to first thank the Crew, you guys work tirelessly and passionately, on set it is always fun and laugher everyday and you put up with my good nonsense. I honestly respect you I have made friends with you guys and met brothers and sisters.
To the Cast ohh my God I don’t know where to begin, you guys are amazing. Working with you all has been a gem, a fantastic experience and a learning experience. It has been my honour to share a screen and wear those shoes of every character we play together. We really make the script come to life we’ll work again,” he wrote.
He acknowledged that at times he and the directors would be at loggerheads but said it’s water under the bridge as they all had a common goals which was to perfect the character people have grown to love, Qhabanga.
“Definitely working with you has been a blessing and the relationship we have shall continue beyond @uzalo_sabc1. There are big surprises in store. WATCH THE SPACE.
As for Qhabanga your journey continues, I have enjoyed playing this character. I say he is a chameleon he fits whatever situation he is in from a Detective to a smooth operator gangster, to a corrupt pastor to a legitimate Pastor, a father and husband. It has been my honor.”
But, Siyabonga will not be appearing in our small screens very soon as he plans on being a family man and rest for some time, but promised that he will be back when the time is right.
