Today (September 24) Mzansi celebrates Heritage Day and the countries personalities have taken to social media to share outfits of themselves or their families dressed in their cultural attires.

South Africa is diverse when it comes to cultures and its citizens are never shy to show off their roots on social media and off.

TV personality Minnie Dlamini Jones recently announced that she was expecting her first child with her husband Quinton Jones.

Minnie for her maternity shot paid tribute to her African roots with a mermaid, boob-tube dress by designer Asanda Madyibi, who also designed her traditional wedding dress.

In her post, Minnie explained the inspiration behind her pregnancy reveal, which she revealed was an attempt to pay respect to her culture.

Minnie explained that she did prior to the shoot she did some research about how Zulu pregnant woman looked like back in the day.

“Our culture is so rich with amazing clothing, patterns, colors and designs, all of which have symbolic meaning. For example the hat a woman wears symbolizes that she is a married woman. The clothes she wears symbolizes whether she is a girl, a woman, a wife, or a mother to be. The patterns on a maternity apron determine many things, among which is the sex of the baby,” wrote Minnie.Traditional outfits are trending all over social media and videos of South Africans partaking in the Jerusalema dance challenge as requested by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The president had encouraged South Africans to partake in the dance challenge that has gone global all thanks to Master KG and Nomcebo’s hit song Jerusalema.

The song has become a global sensation even sparking a phenomenal global dance frenzy with many people across the globe participating on the #JerusalemaChallenge by sharing beautiful videos of them dancing to the song.
