Eddy Kenzo has had a very tough year given the fact the COVID lockdown found him in a strange country where he was stuck for a couple of months before being repatriated. The artist had been crying out to the Government of Uganda to repatriate him from Ivory Coast but for a very long time, his pleas fell on deaf ears.
That narrative has all changed now that the singer has bagged an endorsement from UTB. Eddy Kenzo has been unveiled as the new Uganda Tourism Ambassador by the state minister for tourism, Godfrey Kiwanda Ssuubi, at Sheraton Hotel in Kampala.Kiwanda said they chose Kenzo because he sings positively about the country, unlike some musicians who portray negativity in their music.
The musician took to his social media platforms to make the news known to his fans.He has pledged to employ his vast network of friends and professionals across the globe to help unlock Uganda’s tourism potential, as well as encourage the youth here to embrace their country’s tourism industry.
The minister said Kenzo’s task will be to market the tourism sector from the fore fronts which he identified as the, Tulambule Campaign that creates local awareness of uganda’s visibility in the East African region; Destination Uganda campaign that seeks to attract tourist from the rest of Africa; Twende Uganda tourism campaign and the Global Pearl of Africa campaign.
Kiwanda noted that Kenzo’s globle profile as a BET award winner will help Uganda’s visibility as a preferred tourist destination.
