South African media personality, Ntando Duma, has come under fire for a tweet shared on Thursday, 25 June 2020. The television star shared that she had attended the funeral of 3-year-old, Ansia, who had died at the hands of an older man.
She captioned the post with, “Attended a funeral of a 3-year-old baby girl that was stabbed by a MAN in Orange Farm today. I CANNOT EXPLAIN HOW shattered and broken into pieces my heart is. STOP KILLING WOMEN & CHILDREN! STOP GENDER BASED VIOLENCE! JUST STOP! RIP ANGEL, RIP ANSIA.
Followers were outraged by her insincere post, with many angered by the fact that she attempted to garner attention for her look, whilst at a funeral. One follower stated, “You took nice pictures in the funeral of a 3 yr old that was stabbed by a man.”
Unclear if she was oblivious to her faux pas, Ntando shared a follow up post which detailed her look. Stating, “I wore my mom’s clothes to the funeral today from head to toe!”. Haibo Ntando!
What appeared to be a sentimental post which highlighted the ongoing issue of gender-based violence, was coupled with two images of herself posing in an #OOTD. The images showed side by side shots of her look, one wearing a long overcoat, and one without.
